Monitor & Keyboard Cleaning
Flat-panel Monitors:
CAUTION: Before cleaning the monitor, unplug the
monitor from the electrical outlet.
- To clean your antistatic screen, lightly dampen a soft, clean cloth with water. If possible, use a special screen-cleaning tissue or solution suitable for the antistatic coating. Do not use benzene, thinner, ammonia, abrasive cleaners, or compressed air.
- Use a lightly-dampened, warm cloth to clean the plastics. Avoid using detergent of any kind as some detergents leave a milky film on the plastics.
- Handle your monitor with care as darker-colored plastics may scratch and show white scuff marks more than lighter-colored plastics.
Keyboards:
CAUTION: First, shutdown your PC and unplug the keyboard
(remember where you unplugged it).
- First, shutdown your PC and remove the mains plug, unplug the keyboard (remember which socket) and hold it upside down to release any debris from inbetween the keys (pressing the keys is a good way to release it).
- If you have a can of compressed air then use it to blow any debris from around and under the keys, if not then use the hose of a vacuum cleaner to remove it.
- Now take a cotton swab and put a couple of drops of cleaning fluid on it. Use the cotton swab to clean the sides of the keys.
- After cleaning the sides of the keys, take a lint free cloth and dampen it with cleaning fluid (don’t put the liquid directly on the keyboard). Give the surface of the keyboard a good wipe using the cloth, and trace the contours of the keys.
