Lead Time Necessary for Project Development

The time frames given by this document are an estimate of the time from the submission of the completed project proposal document to the launch of the website or web application.


Project Status

Is this a new project?


Authentication

Will people need to login to get to the site?


Will there be multiple levels of access, and if so, how many?


*If you need more than 5 levels of authentication, contact SSTS for design consultation.
*Examples of access levels include "Admin", "Regular User", "Student Employee", "Visitor (unauthenticated)", etc.
*("Super" Admin access granted to SSTS web programmers free of charge. Wink)

Data Collection, Reporting, & Management

Will you be collecting data, and if so how much?

*"Full Name" counts as 3 fields, "Phone Number" counts as 3, etc. A "Yes/No" selection counts as one field.
*A "complex" form is defined as having multiple pages of forms that vary based on selections made on previous pages.

If you are collecting data, how will you receive it?



Will you need reports on stored data?


*Lead time to program reports varies based on the number/complexity of the reports requested. Assume a minumum of 2 weeks for reporting features.

Will you need online processing/manipulation of the data?


*Development time needed for web based processing can vary dramatically. Assume a minumum of 4 weeks for web based processing features.

Data Retention & Auditing

Will you need to retain/track historical data (i.e. by semester)?


Will you need to track user actions (login, changes, etc)?


*If you need to track this type of data, take that into consideration when determining your reporting needs.

Online Payment Collection (eCommerce)

Will you need to collect money online?

Online Configuration

Will you need to manage any settings for your project online (i.e. turn on/off registration dates, set active semester information, etc)?

Visual Redesign (i.e. implement new KU Template; existing project only)

Will you want SSTS to redesign your website or web application?


*The size of your website or web application will determine the actual time needed for the redesign. Assume a minimum of two weeks for small websites or web applications.


If you need document processing, payment processing, data entry, mailings, or other services provided by SIS , please contact them for an estimate of the lead time necessary for their purposes.
